In addition to publishing our own books, Butler Books produces books for a wide variety of clients: museums, churches, corporations, trade associations, universities, civic and charitable organizations, private entrepreneurs and even other publishers. In most cases we are hired to provide complete publishing services and deliver finished books, but each service on our publishing menu is available individually. Those services include:
Commercial assessments
A paid consultation to determine the commercial viability of book ideas, along with a rollout plan.
Original research
For non-fiction subjects we can provide research, both textual and photographic.
Editing manuscripts
We edit for substance as well as line edit, either shaping whole sections or simply correcting grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc. (We do not edit fiction.)
Original writing
We can write original manuscripts (ghost write) or re-write for length, style, or content. (We do not write fiction.)
Oral history projects
We manage taped interview sessions and the transcription and editing of interviews.
Book design
Cover and page design for trade non-fiction and illustrated books.
Digital mechanicals
Creation of printer-ready digital mechanicals.
Manufacturing and print supervision
Printer selection, printing, binding, and delivery. We request printing quotes from printers on a global basis.
